Hydra
Hydra in the Argosaronic gulf, is one of the most romantic destinations in Greece. It is built in the shape of an amphitheatre and has traditional stone mansions and narrow cobble paved streets. With the exception of rubbish trucks, cars are banned on the island and the main mode of transport are the 500 plus donkeys, horses, mules and water taxis. Many Athenians drive to Metochi, leave their car in the secure car park, and take the 20-minute passenger ferry across to Hydra. This is one of the reasons why the island maintains its romantic persona and distinctive atmosphere.
Paros
Paros is located in the heart of the Cyclades and one of the best loved holiday destinations in Greece. It has unrivalled natural beauty, superb architecture, crystal clear waters, Byzantine footpaths connecting traditional villages and breath-taking landscapes. The most important sightseeing spot in Paros is the Byzantine Monastery of Ekatontapyliani, meaning the church with the 100 gates. Many other monasteries are found on the island however, Paros is mostly famous for its stunning beaches and very picturesque villages. With Naoussa, Lefkes, and Parikia being the most scenic villages to visit.
Aegina
The island of Aegina is one of the most popular tourist destinations for a weekend retreat due to its close proximity to Athens. Aegina is in the Saronic Gulf and bordered by the smaller islands of Moni, Metopi, Diaportia, Lagouses, Kyra, Dorousa, Spalathonisi, Anonyma. According to the myth, the island was given its name by Zeus. A nymph, daughter of Asopos bore two children one of which was the son of Zeus. When he fell in love with her, he abducted her and took her to Oenone and after giving birth to his son Aecus he renamed the island Aegina.
Kea
The Cyclades Islands are defined by laid-back Naxos and Paros, the more bohemian Mykonos and Ios and the picture-perfect Santorini. So, where then is Kea? Not many people have heard of the tiny island, it is however, the closest Cyclades getaway to mainland Greece. And one that feels, in all truth and honesty much, much further away.
Kythnos
Kythnos, the island of simplicity and hospitality, where you will discover and marvel at such charming and delightful villages like Hora and Dryopida in the North and and Panayia Canala in the south. There are also scenic, inhabited bays like that of Ayios Dimitrios which has a famous monastery situated within a pine forest. Home to 99 beaches, it will make you wonder why you have never visited this paradise until now?! Kythnos lies between Kea and Serifos and just 1 hour and 40 minutes from the port of Lavrio.
